The Ladies Bible study group will be starting a new study on September 17. We will be studying Provoking Proverbs: Wisdom and the Ten Commandments by David Lawrence Coe. From the book cover: This bible study puts selected proverbs from the Book of Proverbs into categories according to the Ten Commandments. Each chapter focuses on one of the commandments to guid your study of the Book of Proverbs. Throughout this Bible study, whether you read on your own or with a group, you’ll find questions to encourage deeper thinking. Provoking Proverbs will help you easily analyze, personalize, and memorize your top ten favorite biblical proverbs, provoking you to fear, love, and trust in God above all things because God forgives, loves and treasures you first.
Books will be available starting September 10th in the narthex. Pick one up & start the study on your own, or join the Ladies group on Wednesdays at 2 p.m.

Take aways from Chapters 1 & 2:
Whatever you have placed your trust in, is your God. From the Large Catechism: the First Commandment is the key to keeping all the other commandments: “Where the heart is rightly set toward God... and this commandment is observed, all the other commandments follow.” The Second Commandment reminds us we are required to praise God & call upon Him in every need. We do this through prayer. We need to fear, love & trust God, we do this because God forgives, loves & treasures us first.
Take aways from Chapters 3 & 4:
From Chapter 3: “If keeping the First Commandment is fearing, loving, and trusting in God with your heart, and keeping the Second Commandment is fearing, loving and trusting in God with your lips, then keeping the Third Commandment is fearing, loving, and trusting in God with your ears”. Need to rest from our work to hear God’s Word.
From Chapter 4: Greatest good work is to honor mother & father. God assigned parenthood the highest place.
